During my holiday time-wasting, I came across the 25 Things About Me meme in dozens of blogs.
I couldn’t come up with 25 fascinating things about myself at once even after a proper dose of coffee. Besides, any list with more than, say, eight items is really pushing the limits of my patience.
Thus, I give you 2 Diametrically Opposed Things About Me:
- I was a majorette for a year in junior high. Baton, sequins, the works.
- I still own a set of D&D dice.
These two things are not opposed. Both prove that you are a big nerd…albeit stunningly beautiful…nonetheless, a nerd.
I have you beat. I still have two sets of dice, and all of my D&D books. Haven’t played since I was in high school, but I’ll never let them go.
My mom made a dice bag for me. Talk about enabling.
My mom and dad were a little apprehensive when they found out I was playing D&D. There was a lot of negative publicity going around concerning role-playing games in the mid-80’s. They sat in on one of our games, and after that my mom started teaching me to cook, clean and sew so I could take care of myself when I was a 30-year old bachelor.
I’ve found that many times, guys who played D&D as teens ended up being much more interesting and well-adjusted adults. Despite the blue minivans.
