Why is Spider-Man holding a snake, you might ask?

Because the 1970s made NO SENSE, I would reply. Of all the things that we might do at the fair, my brother and I chose to sit on a bench with a guy dressed as Spider-Man holding a snake.

Also note that while I had just overcome a crippling fear of goats that came about after a tragic misreading of Three Billy Goats Gruff, I apparently had no fear of snakes AT ALL.

My niece and I played with this magnetic sand table as we were waiting for my brother to emerge from knee surgery, and all I could think was “magnetic Zen garden.” Somebody get on that.

So far, I’ve snagged three free boxes of organic truffles from Earth Fare via the store’s free-stuff-with-a-$5-purchase deals. They’re going to be worth every penny when I actually have to buy them, however, given their rich, layered flavor and creamy texture.

The husband was out of town on a business trip earlier this week, and I didn’t realize how desolate the house was without him until I spotted my toothbrush occupying the bathroom counter, all by itself.

You don’t realize how much you miss a good fried shrimp poboy until you only get to eat one or two a year. And, apparently, you don’t realize that fried foods provoke headaches until you eat fried foods only once or twice a year.

Ran this image through the TiltShift Generator app and played around a little with the blur and color saturation settings. Cool results, but I would give it up if all this snow and ice would hurry up and disappear.

In the end, I had no choice but to open the window, pop out the screen and lean outside to take this photograph, 25 degrees or not.

I have a ramshackle collection of holiday decorating accessories — when you don’t put up a tree due to extraordinarily inquisitive cats, you make do with whatever fits on the fireplace mantel. You also don’t buy many new items, since that mantel’s not getting any bigger.

I couldn’t let this golden burst of sparkle sit on the shelf, however, when I found it at the New Leash on Life Marketplace today. Only 25 cents, too, since all Christmas items were half off.

I’m not entirely sure it’s going back in the Christmas box after the holidays are over.
